Prawn Samosa–Evening snack

Prawn-Samosa

Ingredients

For the curry to stuff

peeled…deveined… and boiled Prawns 100gms

grated carrot 1/2 cup

boiled and smashed potato 1/2 cup

very finely chopped beans 1/2 cup(so that they cook fast)

finely chopped onion 1

1 tsp green chilli

turmeric powder

chilli powder

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1/2 tsp garam masala

pich of pepper powder

salt to taste

2 tsp lemon juice

For the Wheat-flour dough

1 cup wheat flour

pinch of salt

water

1tsp corn flour ….make as a paste using little water

Procedure

  • In a mixing bowl add wheat flour,salt and knead well adding water and prepare as a chapathi dough and keep aside.
  • Meanwhile in a cooking vessel add 3-4 tsp oil and let it heat…now add green chilli,onions and fry till the onions turn light brown….add boiled and chopped prawns and fry for a minute…….add grated carrot,chopped beans and fry till the beans are cooked……then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute…..
  • Now add mashed potato …mix well and add red chilli pwd,turmeric,pepper powder,garam masala,sufficient salt and switch off the stove.Add the lemon juice and mix well….Stuffing is ready.
  • Now,prepare a round chapathi from the chapathi dough……. using a knife divide the chapathi into half.

  • Now prepare a cone using one of the halves…..close the edges applying the cornflour paste……now stuff the curry inside the cone…….close the ends applying corflour paste and keep aside…..Prepare as many samosa’s as you can with the remaining dough……


  • Now  heat the oil in a cooking vessel that should be sufficient to deep fry the samosa’s……..fry the samosa’s till they turn light brown  on  medium flame (so that excess oil will not be absorbed)……place them on a tissue paper so that if there is any excess oil  will be absorbed…..
  • Serve hot with tomato sauce……

Prawns-Fry

Ingredients

Prawns 250gms

2 onions

2-3 green chillies

pinch of turmeric

1 tsp red chilli powder

salt to taste

4-5 tsp oil

1tsp ginger-garlic paste

1tsp garam masala

1/2 cup water

curry leaves

coriander leaves

Procedure

  • First devein the prawns….and clean them thoroughly in a running water.Now,switch on the stove…keep a vessel and add the prawns and fry them till all the water from the prawns comes out.
  • Now,take another vessel pour 2tsp oil and once it is heated add prawns and stir them for 2mts.Add chilli powder,pinch of salt,turmeric and  stir them for a minute.switch off the stove.This process keeps the prawns fresh.
  • Grind the onions and green chillies together and keep aside.
  • In a cooking vessel pour oil and once it is heated add onion-green chilli paste and stir till the onion paste changes its colour.Add salt so that the onions cook fast.
  • Add prawns and fry for a minute or 2.Now,add turmeric pwd,red chilli pwd,ginger-garlic paste ,curry leaf and stir continuosly to avoid the curry to stick to the vessel.Add water and close the lid for 5mts.
  • Open the lid and add garam masala and cook for an other 5mts.Add sufficient salt …switch off the stove and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rice,lemon,onion…….also goes with chapathi…..
